Solve Toshiba PA3420U-1BRS battery charging problem

Maybe you always got Toshiba Satellite A105-S2712 for repair with the Toshiba PA3465U-1BRS battery 10.8V charging problem. It is a new model and you may not have a lot of experience with these laptops. The problem is that the laptop will not charge the Toshiba PA3420U-1BRS battery when it is plugged into the AC outlet.
The main problem
The laptop will not turn on when start it from the Toshiba PA3420U-1BRS battery. When the laptop is turned off and plugged into the AC outlet the battery charge LED doesn’t light up. Maybe the battery is not charged and the LED should light up when plug the laptop into the AC outlet. The laptop starts fine when it is plugged. When you move the mouse over the Toshiba Power Icon in the lower right corner, the balloon will pop up and there is a line in there: Battery Remaining: N/A.
How to solve the problem
You can easily fix the problem just by updating the BIOS. Toshiba says that the BIOS version should be at least v1.30. So, go to Toshiba website and click on Downloads. Select your laptop model and find any downloads for the BIOS. In the BIOS change history you will see the description of changes.
After you updated the BIOS, the Toshiba PA3465U-1BRS battery 10.8V charging problem will disappeare. Why did my laptop battery stops charging

This laptop has a power problem. The laptop battery stops charging when I move the power cord on the DC laptop adapter. When I start moving the cord left to right, the power LED light on the front goes on and off and the laptop battery charge LED goes on and off too.
I removed the laptop battery and tested the laptop again. The laptop starts fine from the DC laptop adapter when the laptop battery is removed, but as soon as I start moving the power cord the laptop shuts off. It looks like the laptop looses power immediately.
First of all, I tested the power laptop AC Adapter with a multimeter. The power didn’t cut off no matter how badly I moved the cord. The power adapter output voltage was 15.45VDC all the time. That means there is nothing wrong with the power laptop ac adapters and most likely there is a problem with with the power socket inside the laptop.
You cannot simply unplug the jack and replace it with another laptop battery. You’ll have to unsolder the old jack and solder a new one back on the motherboard.
If the power jack is not broken but loose (not making good contact with the motherboard) you can resolder the old jack without replacing it with a new laptop battery.

Stolen laptops can be costly?

Intel says stolen laptops cost corporate owners more than $100,000 in some cases, in a study announced Wednesday. The study on notebook security, commissioned by Intel and conducted by the Ponemon Institute, states that laptops lost or stolen in airports, taxis, and hotels around the world cost their corporate owners an average of $49,246 "reflecting the value of the enclosed data above the cost of the PC," Intel said.
Analyzing 138 instances of lost and stolen notebooks, the study based the $49,246 price tag on costs associated with replacement, detection, forensics, data breach, lost intellectual property, lost productivity, and legal, consulting and regulatory expenses, Intel said. Data breach alone represents 80 percent of the cost.
Who owns a missing notebook is important, Intel said. It is not the CEO's computer that is the most valued, but a director or manager, according to the study. A senior executive's notebook is valued at $28,449, while a director or manager's notebook is worth $60,781 and $61,040, respectively.
In addition to the obvious need for vigilance, countermeasures include encryption and data-deletion security services. The study found that data encryption makes the most significant difference in the average cost: a lost notebook with an encrypted hard-disk drive is valued at $37,443, compared with $56,165 for a nonencrypted version, the study says.
As my maths teacher says: I won't accept your answer without your working out proof, otherwise it looks like you picked the figures out of the air". Oh who am I kidding the did invent these I doubt these figures have any relevance to real costs just an exercise to exaggerate real costs to persuade us to buy another essential optional extra!
Even in the cases where somebody does try to use/sell the information, the damage is either done or not done; no amount of cash spent by the company that owns the data is going to fix a "data breach". It's a classic low risk/high impact scenario and reducing those to "average" dollar numbers is fallacious.

Guide on Expending Apple Laptop Battery Life

You know Apple Laptop Battery life in laptops slowly deteriorates over time, because of the way laptop batteries store and use power. No matter if you buy your Apple Laptop Battery online, off-line and no matter what sales person tells you otherwise. Even if you left the Apple battery out of your laptop, you'll notice a difference in usage times over a period of years. Just following these simple five tips can save your battery life.
First, charge the Apple A1280 Battery early and often. Lithium-ion (Li-Ion) batteries will lose charge from age, but recharging it early and often makes sure that the charge is kept throughout the cells.
Second, don't Frequently Discharge and Recharge the Apple laptop battery. This is called a "Deep Cycle" and should be only be done every 30 - 40 charges to re-calibrate the battery meters in the electronic device.
Third, take out the Apple battery when using the laptop plugged in for an extended period of time. Batteries are more affected by heat than any other factor. The heat produced by a laptop is designed to keep it away from the battery, but if you don't need the Apple laptop battery in, it's better to take it out and store it somewhere away form the heat produced by the laptop. Preferably in the fridge or freezer.
Then, remember the Apple battery should never be frozen. Although the freezing point of Li-ion batteries is around -40 degrees C, when storing the battery just make sure it'll never reach those sort of extreme temperatures.
Last but not least, never deplete the Apple A1185 Battery black to below their minimum voltage.
With these few tips, you should be able to keep your laptop accessories, no matter what brand,Dell Latitude D620 Battery or Dell Inspiron 6400 battery, continually performing well. You know it's just a few simple tips.

It is the best time to replace your Compaq battery

If you take your Compaq laptop with you everywhere, it means your Compaq Laptop Battery is getting a lot of wear and tear too. Eventually, you'll either need to replace it or get yourself a backup for those times when your current one just won't last. Now it is the best time to replace it,but how to buy it when you're ready? Here are some good advice.
More and more people are getting their entertainment through their laptop whether it's watching movies, streaming video from the internet or playing games. While it's extremely convenient to take your entertainment with you, using these features kills batteries much faster than the less demanding features. If you want to be able to watch the whole movie or finish the game, you'll want a backup Compaq laptop battery like Compaq Presario R3000 battery or Compaq Presario 2700 battery, to take over when the charge dies on the one you already have.
Those who do business on the road and who take frequent business trips can't afford to have the Compaq Laptop Battery in their laptop die. When you need your laptop to run for several hours while on a flight, you're going to need an extra battery.
There are a few things you need to know before you buy a new one. The most important is to know the model number for your Compaq computer. You can't buy just any Compaq battery and pop it into your laptop, because there are many types of batteries. Not only will it not work, but it could harm your laptop. Most sites out there that sell laptop accessories like Compaq ADP-9510-19A AC Adapter 60W, Compaq K022546A1 keyboard will sort them by make and model number so you can easily find the appropriate one for yours.
Your next step is to check the warranty. Some Compaq laptop batteries come with no warranty while others have up to a one year warranty. In the case of laptop batteries, the longer the warranty, the better off you will be.

Dell Laptop Reaches Luxury at End

Dell's new laptop has changed a lot, compared to its previous ones. Most of you will never see one of these unless you know someone who has one, and if someone has one, they are likely to keep it very close. I've been using one of these for a couple of days now, and it really is impressive in an artistic way.
There are two things you have to understand about the new Adamo laptop from Dell. The first is that it is an attempt to define a class of relatively exclusive luxury laptops, and the second is that it is the kind of artistic effort that, strangely enough, doesn't photograph well. Finished in brushed metal and glass, the notebook has to be touched and seen to be appreciated. Pictures just don't do it justice. (Dell did come close with this pretty incredible video, though.)
Laptop computers, particularly the very light ones, have an insubstantial feel to them, almost as if the vendor left out the good stuff. You don't talk about feel, because you are focused on other things. The Adamo is the first apparently weighted and balanced notebook. While not light, the Adamo has a substantial feel to it that folks connect to luxury, like a Rolex. The Adamo explores the same concept. It weighs in at a little over four pounds, certainly still lighter than a true heavyweight, but substantially heavier than a MacBook Air, or Lenovo’s X301.Inside, the laptop is all brushed metal and glass as well. Even the touch pad has the brushed-metal finish. Once again, the impression is one of luxury, and you can't help but notice the lack of stickers telling you what is inside the box.
The display is crystal clear, behind a glossy, edge-to-edge glass front. This does give a little glare, in exchange for building up the concept of exclusivity and luxury. Controls are simple, with a power switch and some media control switches on top of the Dell Laptop Keyboard. Nothing else to clutters or mars what is a simple and basic design.
Because this is more of a fashion statement than anything else, the laptop accessories are designed to enhance the experience. Right now you can get designer bags, a matching brushed metal power Dell Laptop Battery supply, and a laptop ac adapters, with more coming. This is an offering that appears designed to be admired more than being used.
Why not take action and buy one now?

LCD Price is Going Up?

It was said recently that LCD price is going uo. If you spot a good deal on an LCD monitor, you may consider pouncing. Putting off that purchase could be rolling the dice at higher prices, according to data by iSuppli. The market research company notes that an increase in demand from China, driven by the impact of China's rural consumer stimulus program, has led to rising prices for LCD monitor panels. Also to blame are an increase of orders from brands and retailers, iSuppli says."
These brand and retail orders mostly stem from demand for inventory replenishment because channels have kept their stockpiles at lower-than-normal levels since the end of 2008," iSupply noted. "With many panel prices for monitors having been drastically slashed to less than cash-cost levels, panel buyers in February started purchasing in droves in order to build a supply of cheap panels."
Increases thus far haven't been anything to warrant hitting the panic button. According to iSuppli, average pricing for most LCDs and small-sized TV panels increased anywhere from $2 to $3 in March compared to February. And while prices are expected to rise some more in the short-term, iSuppli warns that it's too early to say that a recovery is taking place in the LCD industry, as the influx of orders are not expected to be sustained.
There are some people say Oh, bullshit--this is clearly another price-fixing scheme taking off. This isn't oil; it's a goddam retail item. When demand rises, you make more. In China, if the demand is high, I guess it makes sense to raise prices to Chinese customers, while in other areas, where the demand has decreased, then you should expect the prices to decrease. If not, sales will decrease further more.

Some most important things for laptop users

To be effective in their jobs and contribute value to the business, laptop users need at least a minimal grasp of information technology. Exactly what they need to know varies greatly from environment to environment. But in most organizations, they should at least be able to understand and follow certain computing best practices, including how to effectively report problems and how to safeguard their data.
Here are the things I believe are most important for support techs to teach their laptop users. Feel free to challenge these suggestions and add some of your own.
First, rebooting before calling for help. Although telling laptop users to reboot when they experience a problem may seem like a cop out or delaying tactic, it’s an uncomfortable fact that rebooting apparently fixes a multitude of both real and perceived errors. Even if a reboot does not solve the problem, the mere fact that the problem recurs after a reboot can give the canny support tech significant diagnostic information. Rebooting is not a panacea for all laptop ailments, and it’s even contraindicated in some cases, but appropriately and correctly applied it’s a useful and simple tool with which to arm your laptop users.
Second, reporting a laptop problem. In addition to knowing the correct procedure for reporting laptop problems - -e.g., e-mailing the help desk — laptop users need to know what information will help expedite the resolution process. They can easily be trained to effectively report problems if they’reprovided with a form that gathers the appropriate information, such as any error messages, open applications, what were they doing when the problem occurred, and whether they can reproduce the problem. Consistently asking users these questions will also serve as training and will help prevent them from either giving too little information or from offering their diagnosis of the problem instead of the symptoms.
Third, keeping passwords safe. There is little point in having a password if it’s written down in an unsecured location or shared among co-workers. I have seen passwords written on post-it notes attached to monitors, inscribed in permanent ink on the side of computer cases, written on the backs of hands, pinned to notice boards, and even displayed as the text of the Marquee screensaver. Instructing users not to write down or share passwords has little impact, however, if they don’t understand why that’s risky or if the password policy is unnecessarily onerous for the environment. On the other hand, an intelligently conceived password policy, suited to the current security needs and well communicated to users, will definitely cut down on the incidence of password carelessness.
Forth, practicing safe computing while traveling. Taking a laptop, PDA, or other device on the road requires increased vigilance to prevent unauthorized access. Laptop users need to know how to protect their data while out of the office and they need the appropriate tools to do it. For example, remote access tokens should not be carried in the same case as the computer; access codes, names, and passwords should not be written down; sensitive data should be encrypted and/or stored on removable data storage devices, also carried separately from the computer; computers should never be left unattended; and consoles should be secured when not in use.
At last, preventing loss of data.Laptop users need to know that backups don’t happen by magic, and that if they delete a file before it has been backed up, it may not be recoverable. In most environments, individual users are at least partially accountable for regularly backing up their data, regardless of whether it resides in discrete files or within an application. Users need to know what’s backed up and when and not simply assume that every file they create or modify, regardless of location, will be backed up. This is particularly true for users with notebooks, removable drives, and other mobile devices.
Just remember these simple steps, and keep your laptop in a better place, and if you want know something about laptop accessories, keeping visting this blog. Good luck!

Keep Your Batteries Clean

It’s a good idea to clean dirty battery contacts with a cotton swab and alcohol. This helps maintain a good connection between the battery and your portable device.

Charge full and Use full

I got this information from my uncle. Every laptop battery has 2000 cycles of charging and discharging. So once you charge a battery, remember to charge it full and use it full before plugging it again to recharge it. This would help you especially if you are a person who uses laptop throughout the day and frequently switches it on and off. Don’t charge the battery unless it is below 30% charge.

New laptop batteries come in a discharged condition and must be fully charged before use. It is recommended that you fully charge and discharge your new battery two to four times to allow it to reach its maximum rated capacity.

Do You Know the Facts of Your Laptop Battery?

We all know that a laptop battery is what makes your laptop run, an array of electrochemical cells for electricity storage, or one such cell.Without it, you won’t be able to use your laptop unless it is plugged-in directly to a wall outlet.

These days, laptop batteries are made of lithium ion and have an average power of around 4 hours. Lithium-ion batteries (sometimes abbreviated Li-ion batteries) are a type of rechargeable battery in which a lithium ion moves between the anode and cathode. The lithium ion moves from the anode to the cathode during discharge and in reverse, from the cathode to the anode, when charging.

Lithium ion batteries are common in consumer electronics. They are one of the most popular types of battery for portable electronics, with one of the best energy-to-weight ratios, no memory effect, and a slow loss of charge when not in use. In addition to uses for consumer electronics, lithium-ion batteries are growing in popularity for defense, automotive, and aerospace applications due to their high energy density. However certain kinds of mistreatment may cause Li-ion batteries to explode.

To make the most out of your laptop battery, here are some tips on how to extend its life. What I did to extend the life of Dell Laptop Battery and my IBM Laptop Battery used on both of my laptops is that I made sure to use them efficiently.First, since we are limited to an average of 300 charges, when you do a recharge make sure to do it when your battery is nearly empty so as to do a complete charge. If you charge your battery when it is still half full then you are wasting the extra power in it while cutting back on its lifetime.

Second, try to minimize using your hardware. Examples of these are not to turn your LCD to its maximum brightness level and running only important programs when computing on battery. The more programs you open the more power your CPU would have to draw from the battery.

Next, try to cut back on some unimportant hardware usage. If you aren’t using your WiFi try to turn it off. If you want to listen to music from a disk, then create a backup of the record and store in your hard drive. So the next time you play your music, it will be directly from the hard drive and not from a CD or DVR ROM which cuts battery lifespan real quick.

Even after trying to squeeze extra life on your laptop battery, there will come a time when you really will have to replace it. If the original laptop battery isn’t available anymore then a replacement laptop battery is a good option. These batteries are easy to find, just search the internet for any online store that caters replacement batteries. Or I can also strongly suggest you to visit feevoo.com, find some original or replacement batteries. What do you think of Apple, functional?

If you are an Apple fan, what do you think of it, is it more form than functional? Here's the essential choice: A Dell with a pedestrian design but all the fixin's or a gorgeous Apple MacBook that doesn't offer quite as much? (Whether the prospective buyer needs a maxed-out laptop is a pertinent question too.)
I own both a MacBook (an Air) and a Windows machine (HP)--like many people do: a dualism of sorts: one pleases the eye (mind), the other is more utilitarian (matter). This characterization of the two platforms is greatly oversimplified (dare I mention the dueling OSes: OS X Leopard versus XP/Vista), but this is the kind of thinking that drives many purchases.
A quick glance at the features shows that the Dell beats the Apple. That said, the Dell isn't an aluminum unibody design, doesn't wow like the MacBook, and doesn't carry the cachet of the Apple brand. The latter two intangibles are important for a lot of buyers. Perceived performance is also an intangible. The question of which of two comparable systems is faster is often based on one's individual definition of performance.
I know most consumers won't think to ask a lot of these questions and I'm just starting to touch on the questions that should be asked. When making comparisons between two laptops, especially when considering price, if you don't ask every single question possible then you could end up buying junk instead of quality.

Popular Mini Laptop Accessories in March 2009

Laptops have three main selling points - small, light and cheap. Mini laptop accessories like laptop battery, laptop keyboard and Apple AC Adapter add to the overall product. Here's a guide of popular products in March 2009 to make your laptop even better.

Keyboards

With mini laptops, the space for the interface is very small. Although there are some gems which have excellent typing surfaces like the HP Laptop Keyboard and Compaq Laptop Keyboard, several keyboards available are somewhat more compromised in there practicality. A simple laptop keyboard is portable, and can offer a typing experience equivalent to a PC. Some are capable of folding up.

Batteries

Most laptops come as standard with a 3-cell battery which generally gives around 3 hours battery life. Larger batteries, whilst heavier allow for huge amounts more mobile computing time, with the Acer Laptop Battery One getting up to 9 hours 40 minutes on it's new 9-cell battery option.

AC adapter

New mini laptops should always come with a mains AC adapter, but it can be helpful to have a second or a Compaq AC Adapter to remain flexible. It can also help to have AC adapters for foreign countries if you travel around a lot.

LCD panel

LP154WX5-TLA1 15.4 inch LCD Panel help prevent scratches and imperfections on your screen. Some can also limit viewing from other angles to prevent people looking at your work, particularly useful in confined spaces such as a plane or a train. Remember to use an old credit card or similar to squeeze out the bubbles which inevitably get trapped between the screen protector and the screen itself.
