PC gaming and to give the industry a public voice

Perhaps the most interesting addition out of the above companies is Arxan, which is in the business of DRM. That might seem like an odd coupling, but according to company CTO Kevin Morgan, as part of the PCGA, Arxan looks to "ensure that due consideration is given to the protection of intellectual property, preservation of game integrity, and unobtrusive DRM models."

"These members bring a wealth of experience and a rich diversity of products and services to the PCGA that will significantly enhance our existing membership base", said Randy Stude, PCGA president. "By joining our rapidly growing organization, they are demonstrating their support for expanding the PC Gaming industry and their commitment to improving the PC gaming experience."

It was a busy day all around for the PCGA, which also named Min-Liang Tan, the CEO of Razer, as the organization's Board director.

Arxan Technologies, Corsair, and Logitech have all joined on as new members with the PC Gaming Alliance (PCGA), the non-profit consortium whose goal is to promote PC gaming and to give the industry a public voice.

"We’re honored to be elected to the PC Gaming Alliance Board of Directors," said Min-Liang Tan, CEO, Razer. "There is so much synergy between Razer’s core DNA - an essence of pure commitment to improving the PC gaming experience with state-of-the-art peripherals - and this organization’s drive to establish high standards and quality guidelines for the evolving industry at large. Both Razer and the PC Gaming Alliance are dedicated to addressing the needs of a maturing cat information, you can visit here: Dell PA-12 AC Adapter(Input: AC100-240Vegory and its largely sophisticated audience."

Toshiba Unveils 21-Inch 3D Display and review

Toshiba says its new 21-inch display adopts a lens sheet to control reduction in surface luminance intensity so that it's every bit as bright as a standard 2D display. When it will ship and for how much remains to be seen, but Toshiba isn't alone here. Both Sharp and Hitachi are working on autosterescopic 3D displays of their own, though on a smaller scale.

"To date most 3D products have used special glasses to separate a picture into two images: one for the left eye and the other for the right eye," Toshiba explains. "But the market has strongly desired a more versatile and glasses-free approach that could be used anywhere. This new product employs an integral imaging system (a “light field” display) to reproduce a real object as a 3D image that can be viewed without glasses over a wide range of viewing angles.

Word on the Web is that one or both of these manufacturers will provide the 3D panel for Nintendo's upcoming 3DS handheld. Therefore, the display is suitable for 3D monitors used for advertisements and entertainment appliances."

Here's a buzzword to remember: Autostereoscopic. What is it? Put simply, it's a type of display that allows for 3D content without having to wear any funny looking glasses, and several major manufacturers are jumping on board. Toshiba is one of the first out of the gates with an autostereoscopic high-definition display, which measures 21 inches and supports a 1280x800 pixel resolution

Dell are working on a Windows Phone 7 device called the Lightning

Expected launch will be sometime in Q4 of this year. No carrier partner was listed, but there's one more surprise. Dell expects to release an LTE version of the phone in late 2011. Not telling is this phone will still look as good by then, but we're plenty excited to see it come out.

The Lightning is expected to have a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 4.1-inch WVGA OLED touchscreen, a 5MP autofocus camera, and support for both AT&T and T-Mobile 3G bands. Dell is also including an FM radio function and the usual Wi-Fi, GPS, and accelerometer support.

There will be 1GB of flash memory built in, with an additional 8GB MicroSD card. Oddly, the documents leaked to Engadget seem to indicate the SD card is not user-accessible. Dell also indicated there would be full support for Adobe Flash; we're interested to see what Adobe has to say about that.

It looks like Dell is really taking the smartphone space seriously, with news that they are working on a Windows Phone 7 device called the Lightning. The phone looks to be the rarely seen portrait QWERTY slider form factor. With most Phone 7 devices we've seen looking like pretty similar landscape sliders, this is a breath of fresh air. The image is only a render, but the design looks very elegant. The specs are also looking good.

Budget Benefits to Choose Cheap Laptop

When purchasing items over the internet they tend to be less than in store. The reason for this is that when something is bought from a shop you are paying for the maintenance and energy bills involved in the shop as well as staff wages.

With the internet the owners don't need fancy signs or any where near as many people working for them, plus advertising is much cheaper so of course having less overheads allows them to give a better discount. Every time the latest model comes in the next one down goes down in price so if you are not looking for the latest model and are happy with the next one down then you will be able to save so much on what you would pay for the latter.

The one main misconception people have is that going cheap means that the quality is less than buying an expensive one. This need not be the case as there are many reasons why the price may be lower for one computer that has the same specifications as another.

The first is that because of the economic crisis some businesses have had to fold meaning that they have sold their stock on to others a lot cheaper than they would have done originally which means that those people can benefit when you buy but not have to charge as much as the original dealer.

Buying laptops that have been reconditioned is another way you can benefit. It means you sill have the benefit of a nearly new computer, maybe one that someone has tried but not been able to keep up with the repayments so they have to return it meaning that this is to your saving.

Desktops are OK if you tend to use the computer only at home and in the same room but for most of us the convenience of being able to take it with us wherever has meant more and more people are looking to buy a laptop instead. Cheap laptops are easy to come by when you know where to look.

Dell Inspiron 1100 AC Adapter Power Plug Fix

Problem is, I don't want to risk my laptop if it turns out it wasn't put that way. I would definitely hate myself if mistake happens since instead of saving money for new Dell Inspiron 1100 AC Adapter, I burnt my laptop which is way more than the Dell AC Adapter.

You might ask why the barrel is necessary. Well it isn't really necessary, but I just think that it adds protection to your soldered wires as you will see on the next steps. Moreover, I think they look more aesthetically pleasing than having a bumpy wire with bunch of electrical tapes wrapped around.

Steps to prepare the barrel
1. Remove the tip of the marker as well as the ink holder part of it.
2. Bore a hole on the other tip of the barrel and we are done with the marker barrel for now.

Cut the Dell Inspiron 1100 AC Adapter cord
So now we move on prepping the cords.

Generic Dell AC Adapter
1. Cut the cord to desired length. Make sure to leave enough cord length so you could actually solder it to the original laptop ac adapter cord. As for me, I left a little bit wire on the plug (one that goes to the outlet) side because I might need the Dell Inspiron 1100 AC Adapter and reuse it in the future.
2. Insert the cord in the barrel.
3. Strip the wires, exposing the wires.

Dell Inspiron 1100 AC Adapter
1. I cut the loose plug that needs replacing.
2 Insert the cord in the tip part of the marker.
3. Strip the wires, exposing the wires.

Link Dell Inspiron 1100 AC Adapter
So now we have come to the point of soldering the two cords.

As for me I did a little bit of checking in this step. Using a multimeter, I made sure that I am connecting the wires correctly. So here is how I did it.

1. Check your Dell Inspiron 1100 AC Adapter and it should show a diagram there what the polarity is. I've included a picture below showing myDell AC Adapter's polarity. As illustrated in the picture, the outer conductor of the plug must be negative and the core of the plug must be positive for my case.
2. With CARE, plug in your laptop ac adapters making sure that the exposed wires are not touching. Check which wire is positive and which is negative and take note of them.
3. Now, take your generic plug and check which wire is connected to the outer conductor of plug and which is connected to inner. Make sure you take note of this.
4. Look at your notes and match which wires connect to what.
5. Start soldering the inner part of the wire.
6. Cover the first soldered connection with electrical tape.
7. Solder the last pair of wires.
8. Protect them by wrapping electrical tape on it.

Sealing the barrel
First of all before I sealed the barrel, I just added a little protection to the connections. I added zip ties on both ends of the soldered section. Reason is, in case someone pulled the cord strongly, then the zip ties will prevent the wires from disconnecting.

So with zip ties in place. I sealed the barrel. And now viola! Just by following the steps you got yourself fixed AC power plug.

How do you think of LCD Panel Pricing Rising

This could be just the beginning. DisplaySearch says panel makers are likely to increase notebook panel pricing due to component shortages and labor issues in China. Meanwhile, larger TV panel prices will continue to remain flat, says DisplaySearch, who pointed out that demand for 42- and 46-inch models is starting to level out.
Even with the rising prices, consumers aren't real likely to notice. Notebooks are cheaper than ever before and continue to come down in price overall. We're not talking about skyrocketing prices here, but an adjustment of +$3, on average, in the first half of February, and another +$1 in the second half.
According to DisplaySearch, LCD panel prices for monitors and notebooks has gone up a bit in the second half of February, while TV and netbook panels haven't budged.
EETI had started working with US-based Cypress Semiconductor back in April to develop capacitive touch panels, and that forward thinking might soon pay off. In addition to riding the netbook craze, the company plans to churn out 12.1-inch panels for notebook applications as well. We hear the makers of monitor wipes are ecstatic at what could become a new trend.
In anticipation of this upcoming demand, Taiwan-based Egalax_empia Technology Incorporated (EETI) has begun developing multi-touch panels for both netbooks and notebooks. The company expects to kick production into high gear by the end of 2008 for 7-inch panels, says DigiTimes. What do you think? Just leave your message here. How to charge the laptop battery in the right way

Today, many of the latest computers have a fast recharge feature where you can recharge 90 percent of the battery power by charging it for around one hour. The balance 10 percent is recharged slowly. If your laptop has this facility, do use it. This helps to extend the life of the battery. However, do not recharge the laptop battery until it has less than 30 percent charge remaining.
Usually laptop batteries are lithium-ion batteries. Before you start using them on a full time basis, you should charge the battery completely three times and then discharge it completely three times. By doing this, you ensure that the chemicals inside the battery are activated. In future, when you charge the battery, it will be able to charge optimally.
In case you are using new nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery, remember you should not charge the battery for too long or it will overcharge it and end up shortening the life of the battery. However, it is important to charge and discharge the battery three times just like the lithium-ion battery to ensure that it has a long a life.
Usually it has been seen that people who use laptops actually plug the laptop to the power supply. However, this is the wrong way of charging the battery. You should charge a battery once or twice a month. The battery should be charge fully at least 30 minutes before you start using it. In case you are going to use direct power supply, then it is best to remove the battery. If you are looking for other laptop accessories information, you can visit here: Dell PA-12 AC Adapter (Input: AC100-240V,Output: DC19.5V 3.34A )HP Pavilion DV6000 AC Adapter bullet(HP pavilion dv6000Delta PA-1650-02 AC Adapter(PA-1650-02)Toshiba PA-1650-01 AC Adapter(PA-1650-01)Dell PA-6 AC Adapter(Input: AC100-240V (worldwide use);Output: DC20V 3.5A )Dell 1900FP LCD AC Adapter(Input: AC100-240V (worldwide use);Output: DC14V;3A Power: 42W;Connecter size: ;Internal Diameter: 4.4mm;External Diameter: 6.5mm )Dell NX061 AC Adapter(Output: 19.5V 3.34A;Power: 65W )

Some new information about the new Dell Mini 10

There are still some details missing such as an expected launch date and what, if any, other upgrades can be expected to the existing hardware. It can be expected that Dell will launch the WiMax models with compatibility with Clear and Sprint, as they are currently the only widely available 4G network providers.
An FCC filing from Dell leaked some new information about the new Mini 10 that is expected to be released later this year. The upgraded netbook will feature Intel’s latest WiFi-Link 6250, which incorporates 4G WiMax and 802.11n wireless support onto a single chip.
The 10.1-inch Dell weighs 2.6 pounds and sports an Intel Atom Z520 processor. Other specs include a 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, 1.3MP webcam, integrated Intel 500 graphics, a 5-in-1 media card reader, Bluetooh, WiFi, and Windows XP Home. In other words, nothing sexy like a dual-booting Android platform or anything else to separate the Mini 10 from the standard netbook fare.
While not particularly exciting, it's hard to argue with the price. Just be sure to factor in the cost of the service agreement, which includes 5GB of data for $60 per month. That comes out to an extra $1,440 over the next two years. Good News for Notebooks, Eamex Extends Battery Life

The technology we're referring to comes from a Japanese company called Eamex, who says it has discovered a way to increase the life of high-capacity lithium-ion batteries. We tend to give this one a bit more credibility, if only because Eamex isn't talking about a theoretical tech that could eventually lead to the demise of lithium-ion.
Unlike other battery technologies, you don't have to wait a decade for this one to come to market. Eamex says it will ship a battery with about 10,000W of power per kilogram (suitable for electric cars and scooters) by the end of 2010.
What Eamex has done is figure out a way to stabilize the electrodes and prevent the deterioration of tin. Why's this important? Because it means the batteries can withstand a lot more charge and discharge cycles. We're talking about over 10,000 cycles with a shelf life of 20 years. By comparison, Apple says a MacBook or MacBook Pro battery can withstand about 1,000 cycles over about 5 years of constant use.
Do you know how often we hear about promising new battery technologies every year? Over 4 million times. That's what it feels like, anyway, even if we're way off in our estimation. But here's another number: One. That's how many battery breakthroughs we expect to materialize in an actual product in 2010. Battery drainage complaints in Windows 7

These types of issues also plagued Vista and were supposed to be addressed in Windows 7. Towards that end, Microsoft said it was investigating the potential problem, noting that part of the issue relates to the BIOS. According to a Microsoft spokesman, the appearance of error messages suggesting that users replace a perfectly good battery is likely a BIOS issue and the result of Windows 7 pulling data from the PC's firmware.
Battery drainage complaints in Windows 7 are nothing new and have been noted by users dating back to the OS's beta testing days. The issue is particularly problematic for netbook users.
The reports mostly come from users on Microsoft's TechNet forum, who complain of reductions in battery life from two hours down to 30 minutes, and in some cases, even less. There have also been complaints of batteries not fully recharging, and some have even claimed that their laptop batteries are forever damaged by whatever drainage problem might be occurring.
Redmond, we have a problem. According to several user reports, Windows 7 inherited Vista's poor power management when it comes to laptop battery life. Its the NSA spyware platform called either Vista or Windows 7 continually tracking all usage patterns and logging all keystrokes to disk in encrypted format as well as transferring said data accross the network as needed by the antichrist! For other laptop accessories information, you can visit here: Dell PA-12 AC Adapter(Input: AC100-240V,Output: DC19.5V 3.34A )HP Pavilion DV6000 AC Adapter bullet(HP pavilion dv6000)HP Pavilion DV9000 AC Adapter bullet(HP dv9000)Toshiba PA3467U-1ACA AC Adapter(PA3467U-1ACA)Dell NADP-90KB AC Adapter (NADP-90KB)Dell pa-16 AC Adapter(PA-16 )Acer PA-1700-02 AC Adapter(PA-1700-02)

IBM has inked a new agreement with the ABB Group

"With the new agreement, ABB will realize considerable savings, while harmonizing and optimizing IS infrastructure," said Haider Rashid, ABB's global Chief Information Officer. "Our partnership with IBM allows us to implement new technologies and processes to build for continued globalization of our business. At the same time, we will be improving energy efficiency."
ABB said it expects immediate cost savings as a result of the new agreement, while it also puts ABB in a better position to utilize cloud computing down the line.
IBM on Friday announced it has inked a new agreement with the ABB Group, a global provider of automation technologies, to transform the company's Information Systems (IS) infrastructure across 17 countries in Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific.
"Compuware's third quarter performance featured solid execution against each of our key growth drivers, as well as strong profitability and cash flow," said Compuware President and Chief Operating Officer Bob Paul. "Our strategy of streamlining operations and increasing focus on areas where we have industry leadership is working, and Compuware is well positioned to deliver progress in financial performance."
Maintenance and subscription fees were up, however, totaling $117.6 million in the third quarter compared to $108.5 million (excluding divested products) and $116.6 million as reported one year ago. Setting Display Resolution and Refresh Rate for Dell laptop

To display a program at a specific resolution, both the graphics card and the display must support the program, and the necessary video drivers must be installed.
Before you change any of the default display settings, make a note of the default settings for future reference.NOTE: Use only the Dell-installed video drivers, which are designed to offer the best performance with your Dell-installed operating system. If you choose a resolution or color palette that is higher than the display supports, the settings adjust automatically to the closest supported values.
1 Click the Start button and click Control Panel.
2 Under Pick a category, click Appearance and Themes.
3 Under Pick a task..., click the area you want to change, or under or pick a Control Panel icon, click Display.
4 In the Display Properties window, click the Settings tab.
5 Try different settings for Color quality and Screen resolution.NOTE: As the resolution increases, icons and text appear smaller on the screen.
If the video resolution setting is higher than that supported by the display, the computer enters pan mode. In pan mode, the entire screen cannot be displayed at one time. For example, the taskbar that usually appears at the bottom of the desktop may no longer be visible. To view the rest of the screen, use the touch pad or track stick to pan up, down, left, and right.NOTICE: You can damage an external monitor by using an unsupported refresh rate.
Before adjusting the refresh rate on an external monitor, see the user’s guide for the monitor. You can attach an external monitor or projector to your computer and use it as an extension of your display (known as "dual independent display" or "extended desktop" mode).
This mode allows you to use both screens independently and drag objects from one screen to the other, effectively doubling the amount of viewable work space.For more laptop ac adapters information, you can visit here: Delta SADP-65KB AC Adapter(Input: AC100-240V (worldwide use);Output: DC19V 3.42A )Dell 3K360 AC Adapter(Output: DC20V 4.5A;Power: 90W)Dell Inspiron 8100 AC Adapter(Input: AC100-240V (worldwide use);Output: DC20V 3.5A)Dell N5825 AC Adapter(Input: AC100-240V (worldwide use);Output: DC19V 3.16A )Dell PA-1650-050 AC Adapter(Input: AC100-240V (worldwide use);Output: DC19.5V 3.34A )HP 391172-001 AC adapter(Input: AC100-240V (worldwide use);Output: DC18.5V 3.5A )HP 391172-001 AC adapter(Input: AC100-240V 50-60Hz Output: 18.5V 3.5A Power: 65W)

Will A123 Systems Lands Battery Deal with Fisker Automotive?

“Fisker Automotive selected A123 because of the company’s ability to meet our performance needs and rapidly scale to our production volume,” said Henrik Fisker, Chief Executive Officer of Fisker Automotive. “Fisker is committed to developing environmentally friendly cars that don’t sacrifice style or performance. A123’s technology will ensure the Karma delivers.”
Fisker is aiming to make the Karma one of the cleanest, most fuel-efficient cars in the world while still offering industry-leading style and performance. Clearly, selecting the right battery manufacturer for the Karma is a large part of achieving what Fisker is setting out to accomplish.
The Fisker Karma is expected to have a range of 50 full-electric miles on a charge of A123’s lithium ion battery system and a total range of 300 miles with an on-board generator turned by a traditional but efficient four-cylinder gasoline engine. The Karma features 403hp and is designed to go from 0 to 60 mph in about six seconds, reaching a top speed of 125 mph.
Following up on what was an eventful 2009 for Massachusetts-based A123 Systems, the up and coming battery manufacturer has started off the new decade by striking a battery supply agreement with Fisker Automotive. The recent recipient of nearly $250 million under Pres. Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will manufacture battery systems for the Fisker Karma Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, which is slated for release later this year.See more laptop ac adapters, laptop accessories information on usadapter, or just visit here: Acer Aspire 1410 AC Adapter(Input: AC100-240V (worldwide use);Output: DC19V 3.42A;Power: 65W;Connecter size:;Internal Diameter: 1.5mm ultra slim;External Diameter: 5.5mm )Gateway SADP-65KB B Adapter 65W(Input: AC100-240V (worldwide use);Output: DC19V 3.42A )Toshiba PA3396U-1ACA AC Adapter(Input: AC100-240V (worldwide use);Output: DC19V 3.42A)HP 391172-001 AC Adapter(Input: AC100-240V (worldwide use);Output: DC18.5V 3.5A )HP 371790-001 AC Adapter(Input: AC100-240V 50-60Hz Output: 18.5V 3.5A Power: 65W)Apple ADP-60AD AC Adapter(Output: DC16.5V 3.65A Power: 60W)Dell Inspiron 1505 AC Adapter(Input: AC100-240V (worldwide use)Output: DC19.5V 3.34A)

High-end laptops are lucky to squeeze 3 hours of run time for long battery life

Asus had on display at CES a performance-oriented laptop the company hopes will redefine the high-end genre. The UL80JT, as it's currently called, can switch back and forth between a high-end Nvidia GeForce 310 and Intel's lowly GMA graphics. Combined with a Core i7 CPU capable of re-clocking itself on a second-by-second basis and other micromanagement tricks, Asus claims users can expect up to 12 hours of run time.

High-end laptops are lucky to squeeze 3 hours of run time out of a single charge, and if you're looking for ultra long battery life, your best bet is a netbook. Or is it?

Even cooler, the whole process is transparent to the user, meaning you don't have to fiddle with power settings. The laptop decides for itself when to clock the dual-core Core i7 chip up or down and when to switch between graphic chips, and while we're skeptical we'd actually see 12 hours of run time, we would expect the UL80JT to run a lot longer than a typical high end notebook.

Acer’s 8.9-inch Aspire One has largely been accepted as the sales leader in the netbook market. It’s been so hot that Acer, trying to fix what’s not broken, is looking to release a larger Aspire One AOD150, which will boast a 10.1-inch screen and a doubled battery life for the same $350.

The new Aspire One will have an Intel Atom N270 under the hood with integrated 945GSE graphics, 1GB of DDR2, a 160GB HDD and Windows XP Home edition. And to power it all, there will be a six-cell, 4,400mAh lithium-ion battery that will keep it all moving for up to six hours.
